At Arenas Atlántico School, we see education as an experience that goes beyond the classroom, and this weekend we saw that once again.

Our debate teams, comprising Aitana Montiel, Soha Abbouh, Daniela Ferrer and Benedetta Griggio (Year 10), and by Sofía Arbelo, Alberto Jiménez, Matías Lobo and Andrea García Herrera (Year 16) have performed outstandingly in the National English Debate League, held in Mollina, Málaga, one of the country’s most significant educational events in public speaking and critical thinking.

The event brought together students from all over Spain to tackle a highly topical international issue: ‘Should the EU defend Greenland in the event of a hypothetical invasion by the US?’ Our students addressed this scenario, with its complex geopolitical implications, with confidence, strategic thinking and excellent communication skills in English.
Colegio Arenas was also the only school from the Canary Islands to take part in this national English-language debating competition, consolidating its position as a leader in bilingual education, academic excellence and the development of communication skills.

Experiences such as these reflect the high standard of our students’ preparation; they are able to perform with confidence in international settings, thanks to an education that promotes proficiency in English up to C1 and C2 levels certified by Cambridge, and fosters public speaking, analytical skills and the ability to present arguments.
Well done!
